European Horse Network

The European Horse Network is a network to exchange views on political developments affecting the horse sector in Europe, to discuss and define common interests on the political agenda, to discuss and define technical and R&D issues of common interest to move for development of the horse sector in Europe, to increase the visibility and impact of the horse sector in Europe and horse welfare in all its aspects.

FEIF is one of the founding members of the European Horse Network. Other members are the British Horse Society (BHS), European Federation Thoroughbred Breeders (EFTBA), European Pari Mutuel Association (EPMA), International Equestrian Federation (FEI), Swedish Horse Council Foundation (HNS), International Federation Horseracing Authorities (IFHA), Central Europe Racing Federation (KMET), Pole-Filiere Equine – representing the Network of European Equestrian Regions, European Trotting Union (UET), World Federation for Sport Horses Breeders (WBFSH), World Horse Welfare, European Draught Horse Federation (FECTU), European Equestrian Federation (EEF).

The European Horse Network organises annual conferences. These conferences aim on getting the horse industry on the agenda of members of parliament (MEP). One of the issues in those conferences is the place equines take in the economical perspective of the EU. In certain rules and regulations they are considered to be livestock, fitting in agricultural rules, in other rules as consumer goods. The aim is to get them into their own category.
