The annual breeding meeting agreed on preparing a proposal for a clear definition of the guidelines for conflicts of interest at breeding shows and smaller changes in our breeding rules for 2018.
During the next months the breeding committee will start with a revision of our breeding system trying to make it more updated and better. Qualities and prerequisites to be educated as a new breeding judge are now equal in all FEIF countries and one effect of this is that all judges may judge in all FEIF countries including Iceland.
The meeting accepted a group of working rules for judges and veterinarians at breeding show which will be added in the new version of the rulebook, to be valid from April 1, 2017.
Statistics from WorldFengur shows that the number of foals born every year is decreasing and also that some countries still use a rather small group of breeding judges at their shows which makes it difficult to compare results.
Þorvaldur Kristjánsson was re-elected as member of the breeding committee for two years and Frauke Schenzel and Markus Ljungqvist were again elected as breeders’ representatives for one year. Heimir Gunnarsson was elected as new member of the breeding judge committee and Barbara Frische re-elected for two years.
