Middle European Championship (MEM) for Icelandic Horses Comes to Ellenbach in August

From August 6–9, 2026, Ellenbach, just outside Kassel, Germany, will host the Mitteleuropäische Meisterschaften – Middle European Championship (MEM) for Icelandic horses. Riders from 12 FEIF member countries will travel to the venue with their horses to compete in one of the year’s premier international Icelandic horse events.

More than 200 adult and young rider competitors have earned their places through strong qualification performances, promising a high standard of competition throughout the four-day championship.

The event will showcase the unique qualities of the Icelandic horse across a range of disciplines, including competitions on both the oval track and the pace track. In addition to the sporting action, the championship aims to bring together participants and visitors from across Central Europe, celebrating the Icelandic horse and the vibrant international community that surrounds the sport.
