How often do you try to reach for your left foot with your right hand when sitting in the saddle? That – and many other seat exercises – were practised by the participants on day three of the 2025 FEIF Youth Camp in Iceland finally getting on a horse under the watchful guidance of trainer Birna Tryggvadóttir. The weather is kind and what better than to spend the afternoon in an Icelandic open-air swimming pool, complete with hot tubs, a big pool and the most amazing views. In the evening, Kristín Eir Holaker gave a wonderful demonstration of Gæðingalist, a riding discipline not so common outside Iceland, which combines dressage exercises wkth the gaits, and shows off both the skill of the rider and the athletic abilities of the horse. Respect! Intense and amazing day, all of it.
