Landsmót 2026 is shaping up to be a great week, with interest already reaching record levels. From July 5th –11th, Hólar in Skagafjörður will once again become the place to be for everyone who shares a passion for the Icelandic horse.
A record number of tickets were secured early on, showing just how important Landsmót is as a highlight of the Icelandic summer. Visitors can look forward to a full week where top horses and riders come together, combining sport, tradition, and a welcoming, festive atmosphere.
During the day, the focus will be on competitions and presentations in the arena, where the unique qualities of the Icelandic horse can be experienced up close. In the evenings, the program offers a mix of entertainment and social gatherings, giving guests plenty of opportunities to relax and enjoy time together.
One of the highlights will be on Saturday evening, July 11, when Stuðlabandið takes the stage. The band is well known in Iceland for its lively performances and good energy, and has played at many festivals across the country as well as abroad, including the World Championships of the Icelandic Horse in Switzerland. Visitors can expect a fun evening where people come together, enjoy the music, and make the most of the final night of Landsmót.
The experience doesn’t end when Landsmót closes. On July 12, the day of culture and breeding will take place in Skagafjörður. Several breeding farms in the area will open their doors, giving visitors the chance to learn more about Icelandic horse breeding, meet the people behind it, and see the horses in their home surroundings.
With a strong program and high interest, Landsmót 2026 is set to be a memorable week for both participants and visitors – a chance to enjoy great horses, good company, and the unique atmosphere that makes this event so special.
