The Icelandic Horse History Centre opens its doors again this summer

June 3 2025 | General

A new exhibition was opened at the Icelandic Horse History Centre on June 1st. Visitors are invited to learn about Icelandic horse colours and the studbook WorldFengur, as well as to explore a variety of fascinating objects connected to outstanding horses and riders.

The exhibition also offers insight into the rich history of the Icelandic horse and its influence on the culture and daily life of the Icelandic nation in the past century.

The centre is located at Hólar in Hjaltadalur, the heart of Icelandic horse breeding, where education and tradition come together in the picturesque landscape of North Iceland.

Kristín Halldórsdóttir, the project manager of the centre, welcomes visitors daily from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, except on Mondays when the centre is closed.
