October 17 2018 | General

Sunday, October 21, a rare phenomenon can be seen in the inner city of the Danish Capital Copenhagen. Rows of Icelandic horses will ride in procession from the Christiansborg Castle towards the North Atlantic House – a cultural center in Copenhagen, that offers art and culture from Iceland, Greenland and the Faroe Islands.
The occasion of the event is the Danish Iceland Horse Association’s 50th anniversary and the Icelandic Embassy’s celebration of the 100th anniversary of Iceland’s sovereignty. The Icelandic and Danish ministers of Nordic Cooperation Sigurður Ingi Jóhannsson and Eva Kjer Hansen will take part in the procession on horse back as well.
The Danish Icelandic Horse Association, the Islandic Embassy in Copenhagen, The North Atlantic Brygge, Horses of Iceland and the Danish-Icelandic society have merged together to create this huge cultural advancement in the middle of Copenhagen’s atmospheric and historic harbor area.
At 12.00 an opening ceremony will take place at Nordatlantens Brygge together with the launch of the Danish Icelandic Horse Association’s 50th anniversary book.
After this the whole family is welcome to come, meet and greet the powerful yet gentle Icelandic horse, and take part in the many activities that celebrate Icelandic culture!
