Horses in the Common Agricultural Policy of the EU

May 3 2017 | EHN

The European Horse Network (EHN) published its view on the position of horses in the future Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) of the European Union. So far, horses are considered too easily as agricultural animals and part of the food chain, without respect for other values. This hinders further development od the horse industry in Europe,
Therefore EHN members ask for
– Regard the Horse as an agriculture animal with a high environmental and social value
– Adopt a coherent fiscal and social system to promote the development of the horse industry in Europe
The view was presented at a meeting with members of the European Parliament on May 3, 2017 in Brussels.
FEIF is one of the founding members of EHN.
