The Sport and Sport Judges Committees had two productive meetings in Haarlem with focus on the 2016 competition season’s “experiments” for an alternative T5 construction in Germany and PP2 modifications in Austria. Proposals will be prepared for the Sport Department meeting in Helsinki (February 2017) clarifying the procedures for handling exceptional situations in competition: lost shoes and bleeding horses. The group also addressed inconsistencies between the description of the gaits, the demands of the tests, and the judging guidelines. Bas Cornielje presented information on alternative shoeing techniques (glue on boots, temporary boots, and composite shoes [eg “Duplo”]) which will be brought to the Sport Department meeting for consideration for use in the 2017 competition season.
