Great participation on the Day of the Icelandic Horse

May 6 2016 | General, Leisure Riding

May 1st was officially the Day of the Icelandic horse, celebrated worldwide. Many clubs held Open House events; children showed off their riding skills and a lof of ways in which to enjoy the Icelandic horse, and individuals enjoyed the day together in the saddle. We received a great number of pictures and videos marked #horsesoficeland, and we would like to use this opportunity to thank everyone for taking part in this wonderful event and for making it such a success!
In downtown Reykjavík beautiful weather accompanied the large group of horses and riders that took part in the parade on Saturday, April 30th. The group of over 100 horses and riders, gathered at a national landmark, the Hallgrímskirkja church, where the Mayor of Reykjavík held a speech about the amazing Horses of Iceland. A choir sang traditional Icelandic songs and opened the festivities with style.
