All allocated places for the FEIF YouthCup in July 2016 have now been confirmed. The demand was exceptionally high this year. A set number of places is allocated to each country, and some countries choose to have some extra young people on the waiting list. But there is no guarantee that FEIF can accommodate them. This year only 3 places were not filled after the initial registration. These were put in a lottery, and Norway, the Netherlands and Switzerland won one extra place each.
The total number of participants is restricted to 78 places, because the young riders will become a member of one of 13 international teams of 6, who will train and compete together. Even in countries close to the midnight sun, the days are just not long enough to fit in any more teams. With the selection events coming up over the next few weeks the pressure and excitement amongst the hopeful riders who aim to participate is rising, and FEIF wishes good luck to all who are hoping and still waiting to compete.
