Landsmót at Hella was a success

July 10 2014 | General

Landsmót 2014 was held at Hella where around 1000 horses were presented in Gæðingakeppni, tölt, pace and in a FIZO breeding show. Despite a moody weather, around 10.000 guests were there over the weekend watching Spuni frá Vesturkoti ridden by Þórarin Ragnarsson winning A-flokkur, Loki frá Selfossi ridden by Sigurður Sigurðarson winning B-flokkur and Árni Björn Pálsson and Stormur frá Herríðarhóli winning Tölt T1. Arion frá Eystra-Fróðholti, presented by Daniel Jónsson, was the highest judged breeding horse at Landsmót. Vilmundur frá Feti received the Sleipnir Cup as the highest judged honorary stallion for offspring 2014. Glódís Rún Sigurðardóttir came in first place in the children class riding Kamban frá Húsavík, Þórdís Inga Pálsdóttir riding Kjarval frá Blönduósi was in first place in the teenagers’ class, and Gústaf Ásgeir Hinriksson riding Ás frá Skriðulandi came in first place in young riders class. The Icelandic Trainers Association rewarded a number of riders for their skills and well-presented horses and handed out the FT Feather Award.
Overall, Landsmót was a success with better horses than ever before and the turnout of guests was great considering the weather. Landsmót was broadcasted live over the internet as well as on national TV in Iceland. The guests enjoyed excellent shows and good and harmonious riding. The organizers say that never before they have seen as many international guests at Landsmót, and that proves the vision of FEIF ‘to bring people together in their passion for the Icelandic horse’.
