Proper handling of finals with rein changes

May 5 2014 | Sport

The Sport Committee has received a request for clarification of the proper handling of finals in tests which include rein (hand) changes such as T2, T3, T4, and so forth. The finals of these tests are ridden using the same instructions — including rein (hand) changes — as the preliminary rounds. The only differences between preliminaries and finals are (a) the number of riders on the track, (b) the selection of the starting rein, and (c) the section scores are announced between each section while the horses walk and spread out on the track under the speaker’s direction.
