Sport Judges Seminar in Iceland

April 16 2012 | Sport

59 International and national sport judges did participate in the Sport Judges Seminar 2012 in Mosfellsbær in Iceland, at the excellent facilities of the Hörður riding club. The theme of the seminar was Good and Harmonious Riding.
New thoughts about ‘firewalls’ in the guidelines for sport judges were introduced. These firewalls should ensure that basic demands for tests are met when marks are given. In the discussion about ethics and judging 8 imaginary situations were discussed that could influence independent judging. Several ethical standards in other sports were compared. Also the use of social media by judges was reviewed.
Sigridur Björnsdóttir informed the participants about the findings in veterinary checks in Landsmót 2011, and Gunnar Reynirsson presented his very interesting analysis of movements in gaits.
The performance of five riders presenting several horses in tölt or a gaited test were discussed in relation to good and harmonious riding.
