In memoriam Tómas Ragnarsson

July 27 2010 | Sport

Tómas Ragnarsson departed to a new world on the 16th of July 2010. He was only 44 years old and left us far too early after a hard fight with a vicious disease.
Tómas, Tommi, was a remarkable personality with a strong and positive charisma. Wherever he went he made new friends and attracted lots of people with his friendly and warm character. He was a natural born horseman as his achievements have shown us through the years.
He participated in his first European Championships in 1981 when he was only 15 years old. In 1983 he became European Champion in pace race and five-gait combination with his horse Fjölnir. Although he was so successful on the tracks, he above all enjoyed his trips somewhere in the Icelandic highlands as often as possible.
In the last 15 years Tommi was very important for the judges’ education in his work for our Icelandic member association LH, he was a respected FEIF international sport judge and he organized judges’ seminars for FEIF.
We have lost a great friend and a good spokesman. May he rest in peace.
To his family we send all our best thoughts and wishes in their grief.
