Reflections on Icelandic horse competition riding and breeding show performances

December 23 2001 | Sport

Stimulated by the dramatic tölt final in Stadl Paura in August, there has been a discussion in our national and international associations about how we treat our Icelandic riding horses. The articles and comments in different magazines have been many.
Unfortunately the “rough riding” has caught the attention of other horse breed groups as well. We know this through several articles in general horse magazines about “the bad riding habits” of Icelandic horse riders.
Where are we going with our sport competitions and our breeding shows?
