Foot and Mouth Disease

March 23 2001 | Sport

The current Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) in parts of Europe also affects the Icelandic Horse World. Although horses are not able to catch the disease, horses and horse people can play a role in spreading the virus.
In certain European countries activities with horses are restricted at the moment; even if no restrictions are in place some shows, competitions and meetings are cancelled in order to avoid any unnecessary risk.
However, the preparations for the World Championships continue as usual.
